Michael and Veronica met in college, fell in love, and took off to explore the world together for the next two years. They’ve navigated the globe, crashed on couches, survived the incredibly romantic experience of dysentery, and last Saturday they stood proudly in front of all of the important people in their lives and married each other barefoot in front of a sea of wild flowers. Their adventures and experiences could fill an entire book and are theirs to share, so I’ll keep it short: Michael and Veronica are two amazing people surrounded by incredible friends. Their wedding day was as unique as their life experiences and I was so blessed to be a part of it.
We started the day with Veronica and her bridesmaids at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Columbus, Ohio.
The guys got ready at one of the groomsmen’s houses nearby Highbanks Metro Park.
Veronica choose to do a first look with her father before her first look with Michael. Both were absolutely touching moments.
After the first look with Michael, Veronica and Michael exchanged gifts and we took some portraits down by their ceremony location.
In my first meeting with Veronica she mentioned that they aren’t a very serious couple, and didn’t really want to do any “serious” poses. So instead of directing Michael and Veronica, I simply stood them in front of a beautiful background and let them interact. They talked, laughed, and kissed when it felt good to them and I just stood back and snapped the pictures. These photos aren’t your typical bride and groom portraits, but they are 100% Veronica and Michael.
Their ceremony took place at the edge of a field of wild flowers with a mix of chairs and picnic blankets for their guests to sit on. Michael and Veronica exchanged their own vows and Veronica’s mom wrote a poem for them, which she read during the ceremony. Every moment was pure magic.
After the ceremony, guests hung out, played lawn games, and ate from local Columbus food trucks, Pitabilities and Mya’s Friend Chicken. When it came time for toasts, Veronica’s father, Michael’s older brother, and all of Veronica’s bridesmaids gave perfect speeches that kept everyone laughing and “awww”ing.
Veronica and Michael opened the dance floor with their first dance and the rest of the night was filled with dancing, s’mores, and sparklers!
Michael and Veronica – thank you so much for allowing Blake and I to photograph your wedding day! It was such a pleasure to get to know you, your friends, and family and be a part of such an important day in your lives! We wish you the absolute best in your future adventures!
Keep smiling!
