I wanted to kick off this Pinterest series of posts with the thing that gets me most excited – pictures. So I thought I’d share some of my favorite ways to incorporate your own personal photos into your wedding.
1. As a guest book
You want to remember who was at your wedding and even give them a chance to say a little something extra if they want, but will you honestly go back and look at a book that probably only has the first 2 or 3 pages filled with writing? Spruce up the guest book idea by using something you’ll actually want to go back and look at, or better yet, put on display. Get your engagement pictures taken by a professional photographer (it’s a great way to get to know your wedding photographer before the big day and you’ll be more ready for the wedding pictures when the time comes – you can read more about that here). Order a big print of your favorite one for guests to sign or if you just can’t pick- make an album and let them sign their favorite.
2. As decorations
This is where you can get really creative. My favorite right now is including a picture of the bride and groom at a particular age on the table numbers. In case I didn’t explain that clearly enough – table 9 would have a picture of the bride and groom when they were 9. I’ve also seen drink coasters and glass candle holders with places to slip small wallet sized pictures in. When in doubt, just make a cute collage and decorate at random.
3. As tribute
Weddings are parties but it’s also a time to look back and thank all of the special people who got you to your special day. Have a table set up for your parents’, grandparents’, etc wedding pictures. Weddings are a celebration of love and what better way to show it than by looking back at the love that made you possible? If a close family member isn’t with you on your wedding day but is in your heart, attach a small picture to your bouquet as a gentle reminder.
