When I found out I’d be traveling to Texas on vacation during Bluebonnet season, I immediately knew that I needed to set up some sort of styled shoot while I was there to take advantage of the gorgeous locale. I mean, when’s the next time I’d be able to photograph a beautiful girl walking barefoot through a field of Texas wildflowers?
Through The Rising Tide Society I was able to locate some amazing Northern Houston creatives and collaborate to make this shoot a reality. The Rising Tide Society is an international organization so we were able to round out our vendor list with a couple of ladies from Wisconsin and even Haiti! Every single one of these women was such a pleasure to work with. I have to give an extra special shout out to Courtney from Rustic Chic Events who was my (wo)man on the ground and put so much work into planning our shoot and helping everything go smoothly. I could not have done it without her!
The inspiration for the shoot itself was very simple. I wanted to take advantage of Texas’s natural beauty – wide open spaces with wildflowers blooming as far as the eye could see – and add a little bit of elegance with gorgeous florals, furniture, and delicious cake. We chose Old Baylor Park as the setting for our shoot. As the original location of Baylor University, the park is still home to the foundation of the very first building built in 1846. I absolutely loved the juxtaposition of the old stone rising out of the ground with the soft, vibrant wildflowers.
We started out with a simple sweetheart table set-up. Seriously, how gorgeous are those blooms! Maggie from Bramble & Bee did an amazing job with the floral centerpiece!
The invitation suite and pressed coasters were created by the incredibly talented Kristin of 622 Press. I absolutely loved the weight and feel of these – so luxurious!
The hair accessories are hand-made by the amazing Belmariage Accessories. They were such a great way to add a little bling to our shoot without being too overpowering.
Our model for the day was Jill. This girl KILLED this shoot. Gorgeous from the inside out, Jill was a pleasure to work with and brought an amazing energy to our shoot. Janelle Christine handled Jill’s hair and make-up for the shoot and was fabulous! I mean look at how flawless our girl looks!
Cake, cake, cake – I could have died and gone to dessert heaven with this thing. Such a beautiful work of art from Sinfully Sweet Cake Designs.
Jill is a Texas girl herself and I don’t know if she’d ever run barefoot through a field of wildflowers before, but she definitely looks like she was born to do it.
Did I mention that Courtney, our event planner, also has amazing vintage rentals? No? Well, she does. This couch was to die for!
A huge Texas sized thank you to every one of the vendors who participated!
