Twenty-three months ago Blake asked a question that not only changed both of our lives, but has also ruled both of lives since then. For almost two years we’ve been planning a wedding that has felt at times like it was never going to get here fast enough. As a wedding photographer I probably had a better grasp on wedding planning than most soon-to-be brides do, but that didn’t mean planning wasn’t without its excitement, frustration, and the occasional tears.
Now, three days out from the biggest day of Blake and I’s lives (so far), with all of the smallest details taken care of, I feel like I can finally stop focusing on the wedding day and shift my eyes to the much larger figure I haven’t really had time to focus on during the wedding planning: the marriage.
Yes, I’m excited for the wedding (mostly for the ice cream and forcing Blake to dance with me), but I’m more excited for what’s after. Calling Blake my husband, buying a house, and starting a family. Being a part of a partnership that’s centered on friendship, trust, and love. One day dragging our whiny children on family vacations they’re too cool to go on. Growing old and watching Blake’s hair turn grey (because mine never will). And of course, being a part of a husband-and-wife photography team in the mean time 😉
So if you’re looking for me over the next week and a half, I’ll be in Mexico with my husband.
Keep smiling!

Kaylina, I’m so very excited and proud of you. You’ve grown into a beautiful woman from that little girl on the riverbank. I wish for you, all the best life may offer, and eternal happiness.
