From the moment I stepped in the door of Arminé’s parents’ home on Saturday, I was immediately overwhelmed with the sense of family and the strong feeling of love that was radiating from everyone present. These feelings – of community, support, and unconditional love – permeated through every part of Vahag and Arminé’s wedding.
Arminé and her fellow bridesmaids prepared for the day at Arminé’s parents’ house while the guys got ready at a nearby AirBnb. Both Vahag and Arminé come from Armenian families so in true Armenian fashion, Vahag and his family arrived at Arminé’s family home to dance, toast to the couple’s future, and share food before the wedding ceremony in the afternoon.
After the family socialized at Arminé’s house for a while, it was off to Scioto Audubon Park for group and family portraits. It was incredibly hot, but the sun was shining so I think everyone was just grateful the rain was holding off. Running slightly behind schedule, Arminé and Vahag only had a few minutes for pictures of just themselves, but these two are so great together, that’s all we needed to create beautiful portraits on their wedding day.
When it was time for the ceremony, Vahag and Arminé’s closest family and friends gathered on the patio of The Boat House at Confluence Park to celebrate their love. The ceremony was beautifully officiated by a close family friend of Arminé’s. Vahag and Arminé exchanged hand-written vows before ending their ceremony with a kiss and the Armenian tradition of crowning each other the king and queen of their brand new household.
Shortly after getting everyone inside for the reception, the rain that had been threatening us all day finally appeared, but we were officially in party mode! Vahag and Arminé made their entrance and opened the dance floor with their bridal party before dinner was served. After toasts and cake cutting, Vahag and Arminé shared their first dance as a married couple.
After the father-daughter/mother-son dance, the dance floor was officially open and guests of all ages joined the married couple on the dance floor. Everyone danced, drank, and visited the night away with the same feeling of camaraderie that had been present throughout the day.
Vahag and Arminé – thank you so much for letting me be a part of your wedding day! Getting to know your friends, family, and traditions was such a blessing and I truly appreciate you opening your hearts and home to me! I wish both of you the best of luck as you begin this new adventure in your lives – I can’t wait to see where the future takes you!
